Hackers Demand $2.25M in BTC from China’s Car Maker NIO to Return Stolen Information
Some attackers have demanded China’s manufacturer of electric vehicles NIO pay $2.25 million in Bitcoin for some information they have stolen from the company.
After receiving an email from the hackers on December 11, the company set up a special commission to investigate the incident.
The stolen data represented “some basic information about users and car sales up to August 2021,” according to the company.
The car maker immediately informed law enforcement and regulatory authorities of the incident and is conducting its own investigation into the leak.
