DeFi Protocol Ankr is Targeted by Hackers
A group of unknown attackers has attacked DeFi protocol Ankr and issued a huge amount of aBNBc tokens, which has made the price of the synthetic asset used in staking fall to zero.
The project team has confirmed the incident and has assured users that their funds have not been affected by the attack. In addition, they have promised to reissue aBNBc and recover losses based on the account snapshot.
PeckShield experts have noted the hackers have made a profit of about $15 million by borrowing assets in the stablecoin HAY secured by aBNBc through the Helio Protocol. The price of a dollar-pegged stablecoin has fallen by 61%.
According to Lookonchain experts, the attacker received about 4 million USDC and 5,000 BNB as a result of the exchanges.
