African Crypto Exchange Yellow Card Gets License in Botswana
Africa-based crypto exchange Yellow Card has received a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from NBFIRA.
The platform’s CEO and co-founder of the company Chris Maurice has noted that this opens up great opportunities for expansion. According to him, among the cryptocurrency platforms, Yellow Card was the first in Africa to receive a VASP license.
According to the press release, the exchange complies with global AML/KYC requirements, sanctions and the so-called FATF “road rule.”
Yellow Card closed in September 2021 a $15 million Series A round led by Valar Ventures, Third Prime and Castle Island Ventures, with input from Jack Dorsey’s Square and Coinbase Ventures.
