US Treasury Requests Comments On Crypto Role in Illegal Transactions
The US Department of the Treasury has asked the public for comments on the role of digital assets in illicit transactions and the agency’s response to this issue.
There are more than 20 questions in the document. In particular, participants are asked to assess “whether the Ministry of Finance has comprehensively identified the risks of illegal financing” associated with cryptocurrencies.
The agency also asked about the additional steps the authorities should take to “more effectively” combat the use of digital assets by intruders. Participants in the survey can point out if there are regulations that are not suitable for regulating the industry.
According to the report:
“The growing use of digital assets in financial activities increases the risk of crimes such as money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, fraud and theft.”
