Bad Actors Are Using Deepfake to Scam Binance Asset Listing
A group of unknown hackers have impersonated Binance CCO Patrick Hillmann in a series of video calls with representatives of crypto projects, which they promised to assist in listing on the exchange for a fee.
Calls using the deepfake of a top manager took place in video app Zoom. The scheme was exposed when crypto projects contacted Hillmann directly to thank him for his “help.”
CCO Binance has not specified which crypto projects were attacked and what material damage they were caused by the actions of hackers.
He has also stressed the listing process on the exchange does not include third parties, and applications are accepted only through a special form on the official website.
