Investment Bank Moelis & Co Launches Division Focused on Global Deals Involving Crypto Startups
Investment bank Moelis & Co has just launched a division focused on global deals involving cryptocurrency startups, Bloomberg reports.
John Momtazi, co-founder and head of media investment banking, has been appointed as its head, whereas Lou Kerner, a partner at venture capital firm CryptoOracle, has become senior advisor.
Moelis & Co is betting the companies will continue to grow and close bigger deals. According to Momtazi, this was the case in the period after the dot-com collapse.
He has explained:
“We like the timing. Any breakthrough technology has volatility. The size of M&A transactions will be highly correlated with the expansion of market capitalization.”
Moelis & Co currently represents Voyager Digital in its bankruptcy proceedings.
