Bank of France President: The Launch of a CBDC Will Take Place in Next 3-5 Years
François Villeroy de Galhau, president of the Bank of France, has said that in the next three years, a “strong” national digital currency will appear in the world, The Block has reported.
This is how the head of the monetary authorities have reacted to the question about the prospects for using CBDC for everyday operations. He has said:
“We did some experiments that brought us closer to this. They have not yet been summarized, but we can implement this in the next three years. There are fewer issues with wholesale CBDC.”
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has supported this position and has announced a “wide presence” of CBDCs in the next five years.
